La Foresteria Serego Alighieri

Historic Venetian estate surrounded by Valpolicella vineyards where hospitality is a noble art practiced over the generations

Product ID: 46822
Description

Discover La Foresteria Serego Aligheri, a Venetian estate in the heart of the Valpolicella region.
Dante Alighieri spent some of his years of exile in Verona. After the death of the Supreme Poet, his son Pietro remained in the area and bought the Possessione Casal dei Ronchi in 1353. Located in Gargagnago, in the heart of the Valpolicella region, this is a large 120-hectare property still planted with vines today. After twenty generations these lands still belong to the Counts Serego Alighieri, Dante’s direct descendants, who look after the estate’s farming activities, vineyards and Foresteria.
The historic Foresteria was redesigned to contain eight appartments which are decorated in the traditional style of country gentlefolk: an oasis of peace in which to take a leisurely dip into the archive of the noble family.
Also available are rooms suitable for events and conferences with a professional kitchen fully equipped for cooking courses and the discovery of the tastes and aromas of the natural products of the estate and the surrounding area, all matched appropriately with the wine. Wine tastings can be paired with traditional food and local specialties.

Staying on the estate, or visiting the vineyards, appassimento drying lofts, and the Masi winery also allows guests to participate in guided tastings at the Rivendita shop, which is open to the public and where the whole range of Serego Alighieri and Masi wines can be tasted. There is also an exclusive selection of historic Amarone cru wines and a selected series of older and historic vintages for sale, as well as typical foodstuffs as part of the range of the region’s most iconic products.
Guests can also learn about the history of Valpolicella and the technic of production of classical wines through a walk in the park of the Villa, in the drying attic rooms and in the aging cellar during a guided tour of the estate.
It is possible to buy the whole range of Masi and Serego Alighieri wines, along with wines from a number of great Amarone vintages.
