Lesser known than Priorat, Montsant is Priorat’s younger sibling enveloping its older brother like a hug. Almost completely surrounding the more reputed region, Montsant offers some outstanding value wines - wonderful examples of which can be found at Capafons-Ossó. As a winery in command of vines from two blocks - one in Priorat, the other in Montsant - the team at Capafons-Ossó juggle two different climates, soil types and geographical challenges.
While the soil type of Montsant differs to that of it’s big brother (with bright red clay in place of Priorat’s glinting red slate), Garnatxa Negre (or rather “Grenache” or “Garnacha” to you and me) remains a staple ingredient to the delicious red wines of Capafons-Ossó’s two estates - and don’t worry, in spite of the soil change, the scenery certainly will not disappoint. Taste the range along with some olive oil at this multifaceted winery!
