Private Thracian Wine and Treasures Tour with Lunch from Sofia

Private Thracian Wine and Treasures Tour with Lunch from Sofia

Off the beaten track - Bulgarian wine, nature and traditions

Tour type: Private , Duration: 10 Hours

Product ID: 37516
Description

Discover beautiful Bulgaria with this private full-day wine and treasures tour.

Travel to Koprivshtitsa, a picturesque small town in the skirts of Sredna gora Mts. It looks calm and peaceful today but in 1876 here broke out one of the largest uprisings against the Ottoman occupation. The town nowadays is an architectural reserve. You will enjoy exploring the tiny cobble streets and house-museums.

Your next destination, less than 40 km away, is another historical town: Panagyurishte, mostly known for the magnificent Thracian Gold Treasure (IV-III century BC) kept in the city museum.

Enjoy a delicious lunch paired with excellent wine from the  local wine producer Rumelia. Though not belonging to the most decorated cellars in Bulgaria, their wines are real gems. Rumelia wines won two golden medals at Mundus Vini 2013 (Merul series, 2011); golden and silver medals at Mondiales Sélection des Vins (Canada), silver medal at Vinalies Paris International.

Enjoy some of the best Rumelia wines accompanied by Bulgarian homemade food, in an authentic XIXth century house (Dzhudzheva Kashta, certified by The Bulgarian Association for Alternative Tourism as a Green Lodge®).

Ivaylo Katerski

I am Ivaylo and was born in Sofia. My deep passion for wine lasts for many years, I regularly visit wine fairs, courses, tastings and other wine events in Bulgaria. Therefore I can definitely say that I am very well familiar with the “wine map” of Bulgaria and my knowledge is up-to-date, also I really like travelling. I am a WSET® CERTIFIED Level 2 Wines & Spirits (passed with distinction) by the London Wine & Spirit School, also a certified tour guide and member of The Association of Bulgarian tour guides.
