Tour type: Group , Duration: 9 Hours

Product ID: 59917
Description

Escape the crowds and enjoy pristine nature in all its glory with this full-day tour flyfishing in Mendoza. There is nothing quite like the thrill of coaxing wild brook trout from a high Andean river, watched by condor and surrounded by snowey peaks.

You will be picked up from Mendoza City in the morning and head southwest towards Uco Valley, a narrow fertile plain 80km soutwest of Mendoza city. Nestled between the low Pre-Cordillera and the towering blunted peaks of the Cordon del Plata, it is a high altitude zone producing excellent grapes, pears and peaches. It also has a collection of valley creeks that are full of wild trout. The valley is particularly stunning at daybreak when the snow-capped peaks reflect the bright orange and pink of the rising sun.

You will stop at a small ranch in the foothills of the Andes mountain range. Here you will find a narrow, fast running mountain stream that cascades down a valley connecting Argentina and Chile.

Follow the stream by foot for 30 minutes (also possible by horseback if requested in advance), accompanied by your guide who knows the best fly fishing spots. Here the casting technique...

Here the casting technique is very simple and easy to learn. Full instruction is given. It is not unusual for beginners to catch up to 20 trout.

Spend the day fishing trout at the many pools and rapids, watched by desert foxes, distant pumas and condors and admiring the stunning scenery. Cast using floating lines with dry or nymph flies. The trout here is plentiful and ranges from 6 to 12 inches rainbow and brook.

In the early afternoon you will take a break and enjoy a riverside asado (Argentine bbq) lunch, accompanied by fresh salad, the finest meat and excellent wines.

At 4pm you will pack up and return Mendoza at around 6pm.

Please note: The river is narrow and fast moving. Waders are not required as you fish from the bank but you will get wet. Therefore please wear sturdy, tight fitting shoes that dry easy. Please take a spare dry pair to change into at the end of the day. Please wear long pants and long sleeved shirts for protection against the sun and scratching.
