Discover Châteauneuf du Pape, the most prestigious winemaking village in the Rhône Valley with this full-day guided walking tour.
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in Avignon or within a 25km radius for your transfer to the village of Châteauneuf du Pape.
Visit the ruins of the medieval castle that crowns the village and admire the excellent views of the surrounding mountains, the Rhône river, and the veritable sea of vines covering the hills.
Leave the village by foot, walking on the farming tracks between the celebrated vines of Grenache and Syrah, leading through rolling terrain, from one estate to another. Along the way you will learn all about the centuries-old history of winemaking in the region, and enjoy a wine tasting in one of the village's prestigious estates.  
You can also enjoy a picnic in the vines before your transfer back to Avignon.

You will need walking shoes (hiking boots aren't necessary), sun protection (hat, sun cream: there's no shade), a bottle of water, a small backpack (30 liters is a good size) and a picnic lunch.
There are no restaurants/shops along the walking paths, so you will need to prepare a picnic beforehand.
