The second stop is to a small family-run vineyard in a stunning location. A tour of the stylishly designed boutique masseria is followed by a guided tasting of a selection of delicious wines accompanied with some local "snacks".
Continue to the nearby coast where you will have a delicious lunch of fresh seafood pasta (vegetarian/non-seafood alternatives are available) at one of the best seaside restaurants overlooking the Ionian Sea. Their Head Chef was recently recognised as the region's top Emerging Chef at the Puglia Restaurant Awards.
Conclude the journey with a visit to the home of the Primitivo di Manduria grape variety. The visit includes a guided tour around the superb Museum of Wine and Rural Life housed underground in the original wine cellars of the city's co-operative. Enjoy a wine tasting centred around the Primitivo grape that will provide an excellent overview of how the age of the vines, quality of the grapes and winemaking processes influence the structure, aroma and taste of the wine.

Option 2:
The tour begins with a visit to one of the oldest wine estates in the region based around an amazing ex-monastry dating from the 1500s. Visit the winery's old production building, which now houses their small museum dedicated to winemaking in Puglia and the tasting room.
Your host will provide a brief overview of the recent history of the Puglian wine industry and the history of the estate. This is followed by a guided tasting of the winery’s premium brand wines and an explanation of the stories behind their names.
The second stop on the tour is to one of the region's newest wineries, which was only established in 2014. This is a great example of an old family run business where the next generation have proposed and adopted a new approach to winemaking. Here the family will explain their vision for the business over a glass (or two) of their delicious wine.

Move to the tasting room where you will be treated to a tasting of some of their award-winning wine over a lunch lovingly prepared by "mamma". The menu is a celebration of Puglian cuisine, based around fresh, seasonal produce which is entirely homegrown (including the grain for the bread/pasta and the olive oil).
