Tour Overview
Day 01 | BOUNTIFUL BEAUNE
Beaune walking tour ⋅ Tasting at Joseph Drouhin ⋅ Wine-paired cooking class
Our journey of taste begins in Beaune, the historic wine capital of Burgundy that has bloomed into a charming wine-lovers town ripe for exploration. Together with new friends and the local Tastemaker who will bring this extraordinary trip to life, we’ll hit the cobblestoned streets for a Wine 101 walking tour. After a visit to the Hospices de Beaune, the 15th-century almshouse that transforms once a year into the grandest wine auction on earth, we’ll make our way to the ancient cellars of world famous Joseph Drouhin for a tour and tasting of fabulous vintages in unparalleled surroundings.
This evening we’ll roll up our sleeves for an in-depth dive into the best of Burgundian traditions with a cooking class and wine pairing extravaganza at the home of a local chef. Together we’ll prepare a four-course meal with a sprinkle of good tunes. Expect an evening that will be fun, friendly, and delicious beyond compare.
DAY 02 | GRAND CRUISE
Vineyard e-biking ⋅ Burgundian lunch ⋅ So many tastings!
After a Burgundian breakfast par excellence, we’ll sit down with a local legend to talk through terroir and orientate ourselves oenologically for the day’s adventures to come. Next up, we’ll meet our e-bikes for a pedal along the Route des Grands Crus, passing through the exceptional countryside landscapes of the most highly prized climats, including Clos-Vougeot and Vosne-Romanée. Along the way, we’ll get up close and personal with terroir by running our hands through the soil before a traditional lunch in Nuits Saint Georges and a special tasting in a small-batch cellar in Gevrey-Chambertin.
After time to refresh at the hotel, we’ll come together to raise a glass in our favorite wine bar before a choose your own adventure dinner at one of Beaune’s delightful restaurants. Whether you want a full-blown Burgundian feast or a perfect croque-monsieur, Beaune has it all.
DAY 03 | FOODIE DREAMS
Farmer’s market ⋅ Free time to explore ⋅ Locals-fave restaurant
This morning after a delicious breakfast we’ll head to the weekly farmer’s market for a look at what’s on offer. From fragrant truffles and the local Epoisses cheese, to buttery baked goods, and green lettuce as fluffy as clouds, this is the market that foodie dreams are made of. Later, the day will be yours to enjoy, so let the tastings begin! Besides the liquid arts there is much to see and do in Beaune - a vineyard walk could be a nice way to stretch your legs or a spot of downtown shopping could be in order. Also highly recommended is the Museum of Wine, the first museum entirely dedicated to the history of winegrowing in Burgundy.
This evening after a round of Crémant de Bourgogne we’ll head to dinner at the Caves Madeleine, a place beloved by local winemakers due to a locally-sourced menu that expertly pairs with the hefty list of wines on offer. Together we’ll raise a glass to new friends, exquisite flavors, and the dedication to traditions proudly held.
