Tour Overview
Discover the villages of Arles and Saint-Rémy where Van Gogh lived and painted some of his most famous artworks. Enjoy a wine tasting at two wineries in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
The tour will begin in Arles with a walk through the city to discover the ancient sites painted by Van Gogh between 1888 and 1890; La Maison Jaune, Le Cafe la Nuit, and Le Jardin de l'Hôtel Dieu, all of which are still well preserved. There will be a photo stop at the Pont Langlois, also called the Van Gogh's bridge.
After this you will be given the opportunity to visit Saint-Rémy de Provence to take a look at Saint-Paul de Mausole, where Van Gogh's bedroom has been recreated, and see some more of the Van Gogh's painting reproductions.
The afternoon will be dedicated to the discovery of two different vineyards in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, an AOC and a medieval village dominated by the ruins of the Pope's former summer residence. The 13 varieties of grapes grown here, combined with the various soils, create a large palette of complex red wines and elegant white wines. Here you will enjoy two wine tastings in two different wineries before going back to Avignon.
