Half-Day Franconian Wine and Design Private Tour

Would you like to discover Franconian wine “at home” around the River Main Loop? You will find out all about it on this round trip tour with wine tasting and visits to private wineries, wine growers, cooperatives and vinotheques. Franconian wine’s “homes” from historic to ultramodern!

Meet your local wine specialist Martina at your hotel in Wuerzburg. 

Your first highlight of the day: a panoramic round trip along the River Main Loop. Your tour guide will show you the river meander which forms the Loop of the Main, explaining why for many centuries high-quality wines have been made from the grapes grown here on the steep slopes under favourable climatic conditions.

En route you will hear all about the wine villages Sommerach and Nordheim, followed by a crossing with the small Main ferry to Escherndorf. Visit a private winery with outstanding architecture and enjoy a wine tasting. Afterwards, admire the Escherndorfer Lump vineyard area learn some insider facts. Drive to the Hundertwasser winery and hear about the artist, the philosophy of the winery and architectural style (outside visit).

See the Vogelsburg Castle with fantastic view and enjoy a wine tasting on the panoramic plateau of this unique, historic location. Martina will give you background information about its history, geography and spiritual heritage.

Continue the trip to the small Franconian town of Volkach and stroll along the newly-styled Main Street. Your small “Vinotheque Tour” will take you to a modern vinotheque in the Old Town where you will taste a wine sample. The tour will end in the wine bar “Fahr Away”, furnished in a hip vintage look. Enjoy Tapas appetizers, and a tasting of 2 wines.

You will then be dropped-off in Wuerzburg at your hotel.
