Tour Overview
Spend two delicious days wine tasting and eating your way around the Thrace wine region of Turkey, and take a comprehensive look at this fascinating part of the ancient wine world.
Itinerary:
Day 1: You will be met at your hotel in central Istanbul and driven into the Thrace wine region.
The first stop of the day is the village of Poyrali to have a look around and stretch your legs. Then it’s off to the Stranja foothills for a picnic-style “al fresco” tasting of Chamlija wines accompanied by great views.
Next, head for refuelling at the Vino Dessera winery where a tour and tasting will be followed by lunch with more wines. If you are lucky it will be the owner of the winery showing you around.
The third tasting of the day will be at Arcadia Vineyards, enjoying the views afforded from the terrace of the impressive hotel and restaurant facility.
Finally, head to your hotel for the evening in the town of Tekirdag where you will go out to dinner.
Day 2: After breakfast at your hotel, head a short distance along the Marmara coast to Umurbey winery for a look around and a wine tasting, of course.
After another short drive, arrive at the second winery for today: Barel Vineyards. Here you will have a light lunch in their quaint stone house paired with some of their wines. After some time relaxing it’s off to the last winery stop at Chateau Nuzun. Your visit may well be hosted by the owner, who will walk you the vines and explain more about Turkish wine.
After this visit, head back to Istanbul and you will be dropped-off at your hotel.
