Description

Discover Domaine Taverna, situated in Basilicata, in southern Italy.
Taverna is located the prestigious area of Magna Grecia, between Taranto and Sibari. Surrounded by the beautiful hills of Matera, woods and olive trees, Taverna is spread over 300 hectares, 20 of which are planted with vineyards.
The most rich and luxuriant areas of Basilicata, the strategic position and the favourable climate enable for centuries the growth of native grapes varieties of Primitivo and esteemed Greco: most of the vineyards are Primitivo, Aglianico and Greco but newer plants of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah can also be found.
The history of Taverna Company started in the early '50s, when the Lunati family became the owners of the estate. The founder, Cav. Together with his son Egidio they focused on using innovation and quality to transform Taverna Estate into a farm dedicated exclusively to winemaking, organic fruit and vegetable production and breeding of dairy cows

With a philosophy strongly focused on high respect for the environment, the company has always employed methods of integrated pest management and has reduced the use of synthetic substances.
During the harvest, visiting wine lovers will have the opportunity to take a short trip to the vineyards to see the picking and maybe try to cut few clusters, see the grapes coming to the press and the cellars.
Participation in the project entails an "adoption pact" between the producer and the wine lover, who can select their own row of vines, stay at Domaine Taverna at any time of the year and participate in the "practical" life of the vine.
Wine lovers can also enjoy tastings of wines from the best vintages in the garden Casa Lunati.
