Discover Lyrarakis, a family-owned winery established in 1966. However, it wasn’t until 1992 that the wine was first bottled using the Lyrarakis name.
Based in the Peza appellation, in the village of Alagni, Heraklion, the vineyard area and winery comprise of 14 hectares with gravel over limestone soils. The warm climate is tempered by the altitude which averages 550m.
Lyrarakis Wines is a champion of local varieties, some of which have been rescued from near extinction, one of these being Plyto. Furthermore, Lyrarakis Wines has re-introduced Verjuice as an essential ingredient of cooking and mixology. 
Visitors can choose one of two packages, either a wine tasting or a wine and Cretan cheese selection. Both packages include tours of the vineyards and wine cellar where the wine-aging takes place in oak barrels and a tasting of 5 wines accompanied by rusks and olives. The Cretan cheese selection platter includes types of cheese such as graviera, anthotyro, kefalotyri and feta.
