Striving to create the finest wines in the world

Product ID: 53732
Description

Based in Appledore, Kent, the original Gusbourne Estate dates back to 1410.

In 2004, Andrew Weeber took over the estate with a clear vision and a single goal: to create English Sparkling Wines that would stand up alongside the very finest offerings from across the globe. Thirteen years Iater, Gusbourne supplies wines for leading restaurants such as The Fat Duck, Le Manoir Aux Quat'Saisons and Le Gavroche and the wines are stocked in Berry Bros & Rudd, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and Fortnum & Mason.

In 2010, the debut vintages of Gusbourne Brut Reserve 2006 and Gusbourne Blanc de Blancs 2006 were released to critical acclaim. Gusbourne quickly earned a reputation as a producer of outstanding quality wines, with accolades from some of the industry’s most exacting critics.

A combination of the best age-old traditions with modern technology and cutting-edge equipment allows Gusbourne to sit comfortably between the old and new world of winemaking, while at the same time bringing their own exacting quality standards to the process. Respect for the vineyards, the fruit and the natural elements involved in winemaking means that their approach favours minimal intervention.

Grape varieties

CHARDONNAY

A white grape, known for its elegance, Chardonnay is a vital component in all of our sparkling wines, adding structure and backbone. Our Chardonnay vines are planted with white roses at the end of each row.

PINOT NOIR

Infamously fussy, demanding extra care and attention to grow successfully, Pinot Noir is an important ingredient in many of our wines, both red and white, and it is used to add depth and spice. Our Pinot Noir vines are planted with red roses at the end of each row.

PINOT MEUNIER

A red grape, named for its dusty leaves reminiscent of flour (Meunier is the word for a miller in French), Pinot Meunier is the third of the classic varieties which we grow. It provides body, texture and a broad fruitiness to many of our wines. Our Pinot Meunier vines are planted with pink roses at the end of each row.
