Avide Vigneti & Cantine

Sicilian wines to be shared with family and friends

Product ID: 6448
Description

The Demostene family started producing wine in the early 1882, when wines were made more for sharing with the family and friends. With the passing of the years the family started extending the vineyards and buying more land. The real development of the winery started in the same period when the Sicilian wines started gaining popularity, so Avide was one of the first winemakers to stand out.
The winery was co-founded by the notary Giovanni Demostene, his sister Mariastella, and his brother-in-law Giuseppe Calcaterra. Giovanni, Lidia and Marco, the tree sons of Maria Stella Stella and Giuseppe, represent the new family generation and the continuity of this very antique family tradition. Marco, graduated in agronomy, is the Managing Director of AVIDE and work closely with the historical oenology of this winery, Mr. Giovanni Rizzo, has been following the production for more than 20 years.
Today most of the vineyards are situated in the heart of the unique Sicilian DOCG Cerasuolo di Vittoria region and they produce a variety of red and white wines.
