Tour Overview
Discover the famous products of the Emilia-Romagna, Italy's 'Food Valley', on this private wine and food tasting tour.
The tour starts at 9am with a visit to an authentic producer of Parmigiano-Reggiano PDO. Discover how the King of all cheeses has been made in the same way since the Benedectine monks invented it centuries ago. You will witness the hand making, then the salt pools and finally the "wheel cathedrals", real walls of cheese in a single room. Enjoy a tasting at the end.
Next, you will visit a traditional balsamic vinegar PDO producer of Reggio-Emilia and have the opportunity to taste it as well. During the balsamic tour you will discover how the traditional balsamic vinegar from Reggio Emilia is born and how each wooden cask is different from the other. Each wood gives the balsamic vinegar a special colour, taste and flavour and you will discover them all!
The tour continues with a visit of a local winery, producer of organic Lambrusco and other wines. A tasting of 3 different types paired with typical products make for a perfect aperitif.
The tour finishes with a delicious typical lunch at the unique, panoramic restaurant of the Castle of Bianello, one of the four Matilda fortresses, built on four successive hills of equal height and dominating the plain below.
Please note: This is a self-drive tour however, private transportation is available upon request. Please get in touch here.
