
Tour Overview
This six-day private tour is a tasty, teasing introduction to the delicious cuisine, famous local wines and fascinating history of the Piedmont region.
Itinerary:
Day 1: Benvenuti in Italia!
Upon arrival at Milan Malpensa International Airport, you will be privately transferred to a fabulous farmhouse in Turin’s surroundings for a welcome dinner.
Day 2: Turin – Asti and Monferrato area– Turin
After breakfast depart to the Asti area. After a visit to the city, enjoy a convivial lunch at a local farm producing wines, meats and cheeses, where you can stroll through the vineyards, assisting with work in the cellar, visit the herds of goats and cattle and participate in the processing stages of cheese and yoghurt.
In the afternoon, continue to Canelli, the land of Spumante and Moscato d'Asti. This city features "underground cathedrals", recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which extend beneath the city. Enjoy an underground tour going from winery to winery.
The final tasting tour is the perfect end to a day full of discoveries and flavours. Return to the hotel and have dinner on your own.
Day 3: Turin - The Langhe - Turin
After breakfast, leave for a full-day excursion of the Langhe and Roero district. Ancient towers and castles dating back to various ages, dominate the succession of vineyard covered hills. In this area, the grape farmers’ wine cellars produce and age some of the world’s most unique wines such as Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Arneis and Moscato. The excursion will take you on the Barolo trails to Monforte d’Alba through the vines that give life to the most precious “cru”.
Arrive in Monforte d’Alba and have a walking tour of the old part of the village. Have lunch at a local restaurant where you can taste the typical local cuisine and have a Barbera wine tasting.
The tour then continues to the small villages of Novello and Barolo, to visit their historical centre. At the end of the tour you will taste some wonderful wines, during a Barolo wine tasting at a family-owned winery. With more than 80 wineries, each with its own unique wine style, setting and history, Barolo offers special adventures for everyone. The flavour of this unforgettable wine along with stunning landscape views and behind the scenes tours of wine cellars and caves, will let you live a unique experience.
Return to the resort, dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Turin – Alba – Turin
This morning, depart to Alba for a very particular experience. With your local tour escort, you’ll experience a real treasure hunt through the streets of Alba. You will explore the historic centre of Alba and stop in the various stages to taste carefully selected local specialties.
The tour consists of 6 different gourmet stops. Alba and the Langhe offer a myriad of agro-food products and through the 6 different stops, you’ll taste sparkling wine, typical salami, truffle products with a glass of wine, fresh pasta (agnolotti del “plin”) and a glass of wine, typical cheeses with traditional sauces, Moscato wine and hazelnuts.
Return to the hotel at the end of the afternoon and have dinner on your own.
Day 5: Turin - Stresa and Maggiore Lake – Turin
After breakfast depart to Stresa, a splendid location on Lago Maggiore in the Gulf of Borromeo. The Borromean Islands, with their stunning palaces and ornamental gardens, are an unmissable destination for aesthetes. Luxury villas and opulent Art Nouveau hotels line the elegant lakeside, which is ideal for an easy stroll. Visit the stunning Isola Bella, which derives its fame from its stunning Baroque palace and elaborate Italian gardens. It was the crowning glory of a group of famous Italian architects in the 17th century who, thanks to generous sponsorship from the Borromeo family, were able to create a unique masterpiece.
At the end of the tour, enjoy a delicious dinner by the lake, before heading back to the Villa/Resort.
Day 6: Arrivederci Italia
Transfer to Milan Malpensa International Airport for your flight back home.
