Tour Overview
This tour is a real gem for those who want to take an easy bike tour and taste the excellent local wines produced at Giovanni Aiello's winery in the verdant heart of the Puglia countryside.
The tour has as its starting point the Giovanni Aiello Winery, in the heart of Puglia countryside between Putignano and Castellana Grotte. From here begins a pleasant ride among dry stone walls, trulli, masserie and karst areas with stops in the historic centers of Putignano and Castellana Grotte. The 3-hour bike tour, ends again at the winery where the 1-hour tasting will continue.
The stops
Putignano is a small town with a peaceful atmosphere, full of ancient ochre-colored buildings, small squares and elegant churches, also home to the ancient tradition of Carnival.
Castellana Grotte is famous for its underground world of karst caves, stalactites and stalagmites, but it is also a pretty town with the typical southern style.
Winery and Tasting
Giovanni Aiello calls himself a "winemaker for love" because he produces his wines called "Chakra," driven by a passion for his land. You will visit the winery, learn about production methods and have a tasting inside ancient barrels sampling the fragrant Aiello wines accompanied by typical local products.
Transfer to the winery is not included but can be booked upon request.
