Tour Overview
Discover Villany, the most southern Hungarian wine region and taste high-quality red and rosé wines.
Only 2-hours drive from Budapest, the Villany wine region has a sub-mediterranean cllimate with hot summers, mild winters and a lot of sunshine, making the wines from Villány full-bodied and spicy and of the highest quality.
Discover the architectural and cultural heritage of the wine region and you can also visit wonderful cities such as Pécs, the thermal baths in Harkány or the medieval castle in Siklós. The treasures of the region include the protected streets of cellars in Palkonya, Villánykövesd, Villány, Nagyharsány and Kisharsány and the cellars and press houses scattered around in the vineyards of Siklós.
Visit two or three wineries including a well know famous wine cellar such as Sauska, Bock, Gere or Tiffany. You will have the opportunity to taste wines in smaller ones where the owner can show you the cellar and talk about the wines.
You can also tour the cellar and the vineyards and there will be opportunity to enjoy a traditional homemade lunch as well.
Please note: The region is best known for the Cabernet Franc along with the other ‘Bordeaux varieties’ like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, but Portugieser is also an important player in Villány, as well as Kékfrankos, Zweigelt, Kadarka and Pinot Noir vines are also planted here.
