This fabulous vineyard tour explores two of the best appellations in the Eastern Languedoc!
Start the day with a scenic drive through a beautiful landscape spread with herby garrigue and dotted with olive groves and vineyards. Sitting in the folds of this rolling landscape are many ancient villages and this tour will take you to one of the prettiest to meet one of the best wine producers in the Pézenas area. Here they make very small quantities of superb hand-crafted organic wines from old varieties growing in a beautiful setting.
Spend the morning walking amongst the vines and the wildflowers in the vineyard learning how the vines are cared for, the grapes brought to perfect ripeness and how the harvest takes place. Then head to the winery to learn how the wines are made and matured followed by a delicious tasting.
Depending on the season you will enjoy a delicious alfresco lunch in the vineyard or a traditional meal at one of the excellent restaurants in the area.
In the afternoon head off to into the neighbouring appellation of Faugères. The wines of this area are some of the best Languedoc has to offer and are distinctive full-bodied reds and round complex whites. They are grown on crumbly schist rock which gives the wines character and longevity. It’s a small appellation consisting of just a handful of villages and our tour will take you to one of the star producers of the region whose family have been making wine for generations and have sought out the best growing conditions to produce highly prized Faugères wines.
Finish the day with a visit to the nearby goat farm to meet the goats and sample the traditional cheeses of Languedoc.
