Wine Tour and Horseback Riding in Frascati

Discover the beautiful and charming hills surrounding the Eternal City with this wine and horseback riding tour at Minardi Frascati Winery.

Catch the train from  Rome Termini Station at 9:49am towards Frascati (25 minutes ride). Upon arrival at Frascati railway station at 10:20am a member of the Minardi Family will welcome you and transfer you to the Minardi Winery in less than 5 minutes. As soon as you arrive at the farmhouse you will head to the ranch for an unforgettable horseback-riding experience.

You will enjoy a 30-minute ride. A qualified instructor will follow you and will always be in control of the horse through a rope as this is the standard practice for beginners. Kids will have the chance to ride a pony from the ranch together with the instructor.

After the horseback-riding experience you will meet the winemaker of the family, Umberto, who will take you on a tour across the old vineyards which he still takes care of with the same old farming techniques the family has been adopting for centuries. Travel into the past of the winemaking process listening to the stories and experiences of someone passionate about this historic land. Umberto will then lead you to visit the old wine cellar where he will introduce you to the secrets and the old processes of the winemaking of the famous Frascati wine.

Then it is time to taste the famous Frascati Wine. You will start your wine tasting experience on the beautiful deck of the farmhouse overlooking Rome and the vineyards of Frascati. A certified wine taster of the family will guide you through a generous tasting of the three wines from the family production: the famous Frascati Superiore white wine, the Vagnolo IGP red wine, as well as a very typical product of this land, the Cannellino sweet wine.

The wines will be paired with typical breads and pizzas, “Porchetta”, aged cheese with wine jelly, and traditional wine cookies. You will also have an oil tasting of the Minardi Family’s own Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

At the end of the wine and olive oil tasting you will be accompanied to the family tavern in the centre of Frascati to enjoy a local lunch made up by an appetizer (local cheeses and meats), a first course with fresh homemade pasta, paired with wine, water, and espresso coffee.

After lunch you can enjoy a walk in Frascati before taking the train back to Rome. (there is one train every hour in the afternoon).
