Enjoy a day trip out of Rome to enjoy the City of Wine and its homemade pasta or italian pizza traditions with this wine and cooking class at the Minardi Frascati Winery.
You will catch the train from Rome Termini Station at 9:49am (25 minutes ride only). On Saturdays the train leaves at 8:54am. Once arrived at Frascati railway station at 10:20am, a member of the Minardi family will welcome you. You will then be guided to see the charming old town of Frascati and then transferred to the Minardi Historic Farmhouse in less than 5 minutes.
As soon as you arrive at the farmhouse you will be taken on a tour across the old vineyards which it is still taken care of with the same old farming techniques the family has been adopting for centuries. Travel into the past of winemaking, listening to the stories and experiences of a passionate family of this historic land.
You will also visit the old wine cellar of the historic winery where you will be introduced to the secrets and the historic winemaking processes of the famous Frascati wine. The Minardi Historic Farmhouse is now a sort of “Frascati Wine Museum” surrounded by ancient vineyards and olive groves.
Then it is time to taste the famous Frascati Wine. Alfredo, a certified wine taster of the family, will guide you through a generous tasting of the three wines of the family production; the famous Frascati Superiore DOCG white wine, the Vagnolo IGT red wine, as well as the Frascati DOC White Wine. All of the wines will be paired with typical breads and pizzas, “Porchetta”, aged cheese with wine jelly, and traditional wine cookies. You will also have an oil tasting of the Minardi Family’s own Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
At the end of the wine and olive oil tasting you can choose between a pasta or pizza cooking class at the farmhouse.
Meet the pizza Master who will teach you how to prepare the traditional Roman pizza including “Margherita” and “Capricciosa“ varieties, as well as some of the secrets to prepare the perfect dough!
Once you put your apron on, the Chef will teach you how to prepare some of the traditional local pasta varieties, including “Gnocchi” and “Fettuccine“ as well as some of the secrets of the local culinary tradition handed down by their Grandma Dina.
You will finally enjoy the lunch consisting of several tasty appetizers and the pizzas or pastas that you prepared during the class paired with Frascati wine, water, espresso coffee, and Frascati wine cookies!
At the end of the lunch you will be accompanied back to Frascati where you will be able to take the train back to Rome (there is one train every hour until 22:36, except on the weekends where the last train is one hour earlier).
