In Serralunga d’Alba, at the foot of a 14th century castle and overlooking the whole area of Alba Langhe, is Tenuta Cucco.
Serralunga d’Alba was recently proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered one of the most important areas for Barolo wine growing, thanks to the peculiarity of its oenological products, its old vineyards and the favourable microclimate.
Tenuta Cucco was recently taken over by the Rossi Cairo family who also owns the biodynamic farm La Raia. Their aim was to continue the project started with La Raia and focus on the value of quality, healthy and sustainable farming.
Cucco is a vineyard, one of the most qualitative in the Barolo area and the name Cucco recalls height, as cucco in local dialect means the top of the hill. From the farm you can enjoy a breathtaking panorama, where the sights embrace the hills covered with vineyards.
Tenuta Cucco covers around 12 hectars of land where, besides the Nebbiolo from which Barolos are produced, Dolcetto d’ Alba, Langhe Nebbiolo, Barbera d’Alba and Chardonnay are also farmed.
In the Tenuta Cucco cellars, the winemaking and ageing is carried out in keeping with local traditions. Wines age slowly under the watchful eye of the cellarman and the technicians who control the delicate steps involved in their maturation. Each of the bottles are the result of attentive selection, craftsmanship and the energy of the land.
While here you can enjoy a tour of the winery, a visit of the cellar and a tasting of the products, and personally verify that Tenuta Cucco has decided to focus on quality rather than quantity and on passion rather than routine.
