Discover 2 beautiful châteaux: a Great Classified Growth estate and a charming family-run estate, steeped in history and the symbol of “French elegance”, with this afternoon wine tour.
Travel along the “châteaux route” and through the vineyards, as far as the eye can see. This specific terroir produces rich red wines, predominantly of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety.
1:45 pm: You will leave Bordeaux and drive along the “châteaux route” of the Médoc region, pass by mythical names such as Margaux, Saint-Julien, Pauillac and Saint-Estèphe. On your way, the guide will draw a clearer picture of the Bordeaux wines that are often not very easy to understand with around 7000 châteaux and strict rules and various wine appellations.
The wines you will taste are blends (like all the Bordeaux wines) primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, who is King in the area. Cabernet has a powerful and rich taste. Combined with the finesse of the Merlot, it makes beautiful, balanced and complex wines.
1st château: Visit a Great Classified Growth estate. This is one of the most prestigious châteaux in the region. Here you will be mesmerised by the attention to detail and sense of perfection and dedication to winemaking. The beauty and aesthetic of the place lives up to the quality of the wine.
Be welcomed in the front of the château, learn about the history of the estate, identify the main varietals of the Médoc region, visit the vat room and cellars and listen to an explanation of the winemaking process, all the way from the vine to the bottle.
Next, participate in a tasting class and become a wine expert in 20 minutes! "Intense color, woody aromas, tannic taste"? You will learn all about it and the steps of a proper tasting and will educate your nose in order to identify the wine aromas. You will be given tips and tricks to taste like a pro!
At the end of the visit, you will enjoy a tasting of the château’s wines.
2nd château: Arrive in a charming and authentic family-run estate. You will feel the intimacy and authenticity of a private château and winery run by the same family for several generation. Visit the château and the cellars. Continue with a tasting of the estate’s wines while enjoying an aperitif with traditional french delicacies (fresh bread, cheese, dried sausage).
