Explore two family-run wineries in El Penedès and learn about the processes of winemaking and cava production. Enjoy wine tastings paired with traditional Catalan snacks.
Depart from Barcelona and after 45 minutes of driving you will reach El Penedès wine country, best known for its production of Cava (sparkling wine). It is one of the oldest wine-making regions in Europe and one of the most important wine producing area around Barcelona.
First stop will be at a family-run cava cellar, well-known for its premium production of cava. Visit the cellar and descend to the dungeons where the cava is kept for years. Learn from an expert about the wine production and the growing of the grapes. Taste 3 varieties of local cavas, paired with traditional cheeses and cold meats while enjoying the great views of the Catalan countryside.
Continue to a family-owned organic winery; pioneers in organically farmed wines since 1978. Their wine & cava is made in the heart of the El Penedès from 100% organic grapes harvested by hand and entirely vinified on the premises. You will enjoy a guided visit to the cellar and learn about their history and the wine elaboration process. You will also taste three wines from their range of white, red and sparkling wines, accompanied with some Catalan snacks.
Return to Barcelona around 3pm.
