Most of the time, the owner or winemaker will show you around winery. The wineries selected range between modern and traditional styles, all showing different aspects of winemaking practices in the Vegas (fertile plains) region.
Despite the fact that you will only be 30km away from Madrid, you feel like you are several decades, if not centuries, back in time. The Madrid countryside, coated with vineyards and historical towns, that supplied wine for the capital since its very foundation. With a winemaking tradition spanning over 900 years in the Vegas region it is environmentally protected thanks to its history.
The wines from this region are the wines celebrated in the writings of Cervantes and all the Golden Century writers and painters, and enjoyed from the Royal Palace to every tavern of the city. Now they are conquering palates of international critics and wine lovers alike.
On the way back to Madrid, if time allows, there will be a short scenic stop on the promontory of the Chinchón Castle.
