Discover wonderful Spanish wines while visiting 3 historic taverns and trendy wine bars in Madrid. You will be guided by Jimena, an expert Sommelier specialised in Spanish wines.
On this tour you will learn key facts about some of the most prominent wine regions in Spain such as Rioja and Ribera del Duero, but also, you will get a taste of less known Spanish wine regions currently making outstanding wines such as Ribeiro in Galicia or Jumilla and Utiel-Requena in South of Spain.
You will stop at 3 taverns to taste amazing and memorable Spanish wines and pair each of them with delicious tapas from Spain, including a fabulous cheese board with cured Manchego and cured goat cheeses; Acorn-fed Iberian Ham, Spanish Tortilla and Iberian chorizo, among others.
During this tour you will taste 1 traditional vermouth and 5 wonderful Spanish wines, including Cava, white and red wines!
You will also discover the history of Vermouth in Spain, learn about the tradition of drinking Vermouth in Madrid and how vermouth is made! Vermouth is a fortified and aromatised wine, originally from Italy, which arrived in Spain in 1838 through the Catalan city of Reus. Although there is a theory saying that its origins date back to the ancient Greeks (you will learn the key facts during the tour). Vermouth is very trendy nowadays in Spain. It displays a sweet-bitter taste along with some spices; the very specificity of each vermouth is the special blend of roots and plants of each winery (it is like a secret recipe).
Your private guide will explain you wine tasting techniques and the steps of a wine tasting. You will also learn interesting facts about each of the wineries producing the wines you will taste, the characteristics of each Designation of Origin where they are located, the specific 'terroir' (the area) where vines grow and tips about the ageing system of Spanish wines and how to read labels! (very useful when choosing and buying wines).
