Winery Overview
Discover Morgado do Quintão, an historic estate with thousand-year-old trees in DOC Lagoa located in Algarve, the southernmost region of Portugal. Owned by Filipe Vasconcello, the property encompasses 60 hectares of vineyards which have been in his mother’s family for generations.
Today, the estate is where passion for the land, food and entertaining merges with a love of local heritage, beauty and conservation.
Winemaking at Morgado do Quintao is deeply rooted in the family's attempt to show the richness of the Algarve’s terroir, to mark its identity in producing some of the most prized wine in the region.
Since the first vintage in 2016, Morgado do Quintao has been recognised for pushing boundaries in a new era for Algarvian wine. From 2,000 to 20,000 bottles, along the way they have received the Revista de Vinhos award for ‘Best Wine in Portugal - Algarve’ for two years running, breaking glass ceilings in the recognition of wine from the Algarve. As one of the first vineyards in the Algarve to export to the US, the winery is also proud to have their grapes represented in 3-star Michelin restaurants around the world.
Beyond the vines, olive groves, and almond orchards amongst the estate, Morgado do Quintao also opens up its gates to people from around the world to stay in the old whitewashed vineyard cottages.
Wine lovers are invited to meet at the farmers’ table and taste the harvest so that they may experience the family's story first hand and help to contribute to the future, so that a different spotlight is brought back to the Algarve, protect the heritage of the estate and indeed the region so that each may thrive for many more generations to come.
