When creator and charming host Guido Coffa first came across the hotel and the region, he immediately fell in love. Since then, he has invested his time and efforts into lovingly restoring this former Monks’ order to breathe new life into it and create an intimate, relaxing and stylish home.

Dating back to the 1800s, the house combines traditional Sicilian architecture with all the amenities and style of contemporary life. An Eco-Bio Certified hotel, Monaci Delle Terre Nere takes its duty to the planet very seriously. Using the principles of sustainability and organic farming has resulted in an eco-friendly, luxury hotel.

The 21 rooms and suites are decorated with thoughtfulness and exquisite taste. Guido’s wish was to preserve the historic identity and local traditions: an old wine press and fresco paintings shimmering through the ceilings are traces of the building’s past and are in perfect harmony with wonderfully eccentric paintings, modern furnishings and the owners personal collection of antiques and arts. 

The hotel also features a beautiful swimming pool and pool bar with stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and Mount Etna, plenty of terraces, private tours and excursions, wine and olive-oil tasting and massages. Guests can take the rare opportunity to explore the beauty of bright stars by the pool, with professional astronomers and powerful telescopes or enjoy a movie about Sicily by the outdoor pool, surrounded by the green of the estate and with an amazing sea-view.

With 40 acres of farm cultivating vines, olives, fruits, herbs and vegetables, the hotel’s restaurant Locanda Nerello uses all their own locally-grown produce in the preparation of meals.
