The beautiful Bay of Arcachon is located just 45 minutes from Bordeaux. Its 1500 hectares are fed by the Atlantic Ocean forming a lagoon-coloured inland sea which is bordered on one side by a fine sand dune reaching 104 metres above sea level. During this half-day tour explore the Bay discover an oyster farm and visit the Dune du Pyla, the tallest sand dune in Europe; from its summit one can admire the beautiful ‘Landes’ forest.
9 am: Meet and drive off towards Arcachon.
10 am: Climb the Pyla Dune and enjoy amazing views over the ocean and the Bay of Arcachon.
11 am: Drive through the Pinewood Forest, a popular holiday home area for French families to spend their summer holidays.
11:30 am: Arrive at an authentic oyster farm and enjoy an oyster tasting with a glass of white wine. You'll sample 6 oysters per person, including 3-4 different varieties depending on the local produce. Arcachon is home to the traditional culture of oysters.
12:30 pm: Head back to Bordeaux.
