Tour Overview
This private tour is a tasty, teasing introduction to the delicious cuisine and locally produced wines of the Veneto region. Over the course of four days you will try your hand at cooking Venetian cuisine, sample the freshest olive oil at an historic mill and experience ombre e cicchetti in true local style!
Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive in Venice
Upon arrival at Venice airport, you will be met by your tour manager and transferred to your charming accommodation in the Venice/Treviso area. Enjoy some free time to relax and get ready for a delicious welcome dinner at the resort’s restaurant or in a typical restaurant of the area.
Day 2: Cooking Class – Venice Bacari Tour
This morning have a small breakfast as you will be partaking in a cooking class in Venice! Your experience begins with a visit to an historic market located alongside the Venetian lagoon. Guided by an expert Chef, learn how to select and identify the freshest seafood and vegetables. You will then learn how to cook a selection of fish, meat and vegetable dishes, create handmade pasta and many traditional Italian recipes. You will also receive the printed recipes of the menu.
At lunch time, sit and enjoy the dishes you have prepared paired with wine.
In the afternoon, stretch your legs on a guided walking tour of Venice. The intricate network of canals, alleys, bridges, the elegant architecture, and gondolas along the waterway is what makes Venice one of the most romantic cities in the world.
Stroll across the church and palace-lined piazzas of Campo SS Giovanni e Paolo and Campo Santa Maria Formosa, where Byzantine, Renaissance, and modern elements fuse together their timeless portraits of the city. Glimpse the fabled Ponte dei Sospiri (Bridge of Sighs), said to be named after the sighing prisoners as they were escorted across the canal to the cells of the adjacent prison.
At the end of the tour, enjoy a typical experience of “ombre e cicchetti” (wine and appetizers) in two of the oldest and most characteristic Bacari. These are typical Venetian bars simply furnished where wine is served and paired with tasty Venetian bite size appetizer (Cicchetti).
Return to the hotel. If you want dinner, the property’s restaurant serves delicious traditional dishes.
Day 3: Bardolino & Local Wines – Olive Mill On The Banks Of Lake Garda
After breakfast, depart your hotel for Bardolino. Visit the local Wine Museum that connects to a historical winery. Each room of the museum is dedicated to a different stage of the wine process to illuminate the past and contemporary differences of winemaking, from soil to bottle. The museum provides an all-encompassing tour followed by a tasting of the wines produced on the property. The Bardolino Classico has an intense ruby hue as the aroma hints at flowers and delicate red fruit. The velvety texture leads to a bold, full flavour that lingers on your palate.
In the afternoon proceed to a local olive mill on the banks of Lake Garda. The Olive oil museum attracts 50,000 visitors every year, offering the insight of the Turri family, who have been producing highly acclaimed olive oil for over 50 years. You will learn all about the past and present processes of olive oil making.
Of course, you won’t leave the Turri mill, without tasting some delicious Garda extra virgin olive oil and at the end of the visit you will also have the chance to taste olives and various savouries with olive pâté, pesto and other sauces.
Return to the hotel in time for dinner.
